National Science and Engineering Week

Timstar was proud to support National Science and Engineering Week (NSEW) in March. NSEW broke their record for the number of separate organisations who have registered their events and activities as part of the week.
The UK’s widest grassroots celebration of the sciences and engineering. With the theme of communication. Thousands of events and activities in all types of venues showed how science and engineering relate to your everyday life, from intimate cafĂ© discussions and shopping centre science busking to city-wide science festivals.
As part of supporting National Science and Engineering week Timstar contributed 60 prizes for a prize draw all relating to the theme communication. Prizes in the prize draw consisted of Optics Communication Kits, Fibre Optics Torches and Tin Phone Sets!
Congratulations to the 60 schools who won these prizes we hope you find them fun and engaging!

At Timstar we have had a very exciting month! Some of our equipment
is appearing on Jamie Oliver's Dream School!

Jamie Oliver's Dream School is appearing on your screen on the 2nd of March at 9pm! Jamie Oliver brings together some of Britain's most inspirational individuals to see if they can persuade 20 young people who've left school with little to show for the experience to give education a second chance.

Timstar provided the majority of the equipment used by Robert Winston to teach science at the Dream School. This included LogIT data loggers and Ken-a-Vision microscopes. At the Dream school Timstar provided a service in which we showed the advisory teacher how to use the equipment whilst the house was still being converted to a temporary school/film studio!
